History of the CPRC
The Cheverly Parent Resource Center (CPRC), a volunteer organization dedicated to the promotion of successful parenting, was founded by a small group of Cheverly citizens about 10 years ago. Its mission: to support Cheverly parents and their children by organizing appropriate family events, making parenting resources available to members, and publishing a quarterly newsletter. Though originally conceived as an organization for parents of children both young and old, our activities often the focus on new parents and families with preschoolers. With no other organization in town exclusively representing the under-five crowd and their parents, the need here is great.
For many years CPRC has helped to bring young families in our community together by sponsoring events and activities including:
- Monday and Friday morning playgroup sessions at the Cheverly Community Center
- Annual kick-off potlucks
- Outings to local parks and events
- Holiday caroling parties
- Thanksgiving and Valentine Day craft days
- Parties with musicians and puppet shows
- Parenting workshops
- Kids Stuff sale
- Saturday Traveling Tots program
- Cheverly Spring House Tour
- Community volunteer events
In addition, CPRC keeps its members up-to-date on activities through two listservs (cprc_news and cprc_playgroup). To learn more about CPRC activities, contact us. To join, visit our Membership page.
